LSU vs. North Texas in Tiger Stadium on Saturday

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva announced earlier today that Saturday’s football game between LSU and North Texas will be played in Tiger Stadium.

“It is apparent that the storm will move far enough to the west that we can play the game in Baton Rouge,” Alleva said in a news release. “Our prayers go out to our neighbors in Texas that they will stay safe.”

A North Texas official had confirmed to The Daily Reveille on Tuesday that the game would be played in Baton Rouge.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Baton Rouge Curfew Lifted Thursday

2theadvocate.com staff report

Published: Sep 10, 2008 - UPDATED: 3:35 p.m.

The curfew imposed on East Baton Rouge Parish since Hurricane Gustav ravaged the city last Monday will expire Thursday, Sept. 11, Sgt. Don Kelly of the Baton Rouge Police Department said in a news release issued Wednesday.

Mayor-President Kip Holden announced the lifting of the curfew earlier Wednesday, Kelly said.

The 10 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew will continue through Wednesday night.

Kelly cautioned, however, that there are “still significant areas of the parish without power, and some major roadways and intersections are still without streetlights and working signals.

“Even without a legal curfew, residents are urged to voluntarily restrict their travel after dark as much as possible,” Kelly said.
